Lauren Schnabel DVM PhD DACVS DACSMR

Dr. Lauren Schnabel is an Associate Professor of Equine Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Schnabel has over 20 years of equine clinical experience and over 15 years of both equine and human research experience in the field of sports medicine. Her main interests are in the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and advancing equine rehabilitation . She has published over 50 peer-reviewed publications, given invited presentations nationally and internationally for both her clinical and research expertise, and has received both external and internal funding for her research work. In 2019, Dr. Schnabel was named an North Carolina State University Faculty Scholar for her success in clinical work, research, teaching, mentorship, and community outreach efforts. She was also recently awarded the Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence and named an Associate Director of the Comparative Medicine Institute at North Carolina State University.

Dr. Schnabel has served on both the Morris Animal Foundation Large Animal Scientific Advisory Board (Chair 2019) and the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, Inc. Research Advisory Committee. She is also an Associate Editor for the journal Frontiers in Veterinary Medicine (Regenerative Medicine Section) and is on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Orthopedic Research.

Dr. Schnabel serves as the equine industry liaison speaking with horse owners and equine veterinarians about Qentoros and how our product can benefit equine patients.
